Parent Notice 1-9-19
I hope that everyone had a joy-filled holiday. Now that we are getting back into the swing of things. I have a few things to share with you.
Thank you to all the students who participate in youth masses. Immaculate Conception (Lansing) would like the students to sing at the Mass. Lane, Rich, one of the music ministers and HFB secretary, will be helping us with the music. Students who like to sing should arrive at the Faith Formation Center by 9:30 a.m. to practice with Lane. She will be in the Third-Grade room. The children do such a wonderful job of singing! Music is like praying twice! I hope that many of the students participate in this mass as it will close out the holiday season. What a great way of praising God for giving us the greatest gift of all, Jesus!
Holy Family of the Bluffs would like to thank all of you who donated to the Lift program and the Adopt a Christmas Family program. You have answered God’s call to help our neighbors who have less than us. Thank you!
HFB Confirmation students need to be working on Holy Spirit Projects, turning in sponsor’s information and choosing a Confirmation name. Mandy O’Neill, HFB Youth Minister, will be sending our a letter to sponsors for the upcoming retreat on Sunday, February 17, 2019. That will be held at Immaculate Conception, Lansing. More information will be coming.
Support our students who will be attending NCYC 2019! There will be a Soup Supper on Thursday, January 31, 2019! Tickets are only $8! Be on the look-out for more information in the bulletin.
As the weather is starting to get cold and snowy, I need to remind parents of our weather protocol. If school gets cancelled, religion is cancelled. If we have to cancel and school doesn’t, I will try to get an announcement made at school and put it on KNEI Radio and KWWL. I have in the past started call chain if it gets to the last minute. I will also put the cancellation on the answering machine. The main point to remember….use your best judgement! If we have class and your roads are terrible, don’t chance it. Stay home. It’s not worth risking an accident. For St. Ann-St. Joseph families you may contact Brigid Cota for closing questions.
For parent who bring their children to Lansing for religion, you are welcome to come in and wait. The church is generally open. You can also join your child’s class, just let us know you are attending. It’s too cold to sit in the car and have it run the whole time. Come on in!
Holy Family of the Bluffs Faith Formation will have two Holy Hours. I.C. (Lansing) will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. and St. Ann-St. Joseph (Harpers) on Wednesday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. All families are welcome to attend the Holy Hour.
The third annual Archdiocesan Women’s Conference is January 26 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Cedar Rapids. The topic is “perfect” isn’t perfect. This conference is for women of all ages. It is an experience that leaves you with a new sense of faith as a woman. Give yourself, your daughter or fiends a gift f renewal! The speakers are Donna Marie Cooper O’ Boyle and Kate Wicker. Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Michael Jackels. Tickets can be purchased at ArchWomensConference.org.
